WALK DOWN MAIN STREET
Suggested Steps to follow: 1) Week before Event - BY EMAIL: Send “hometown release” to editor of the town where you plan to have your Walk Down Main Street with a nice note, mentioning locals who are involved with CC2009 and dates of your planned efforts and “appreciate any efforts to mention this in the paper.” Include the color picture of the silver rounds in your attachment with the release!

If you can drop it by in person, better still! Personalize the release in the dateline (town, state and date), put in names of area delegates and their hometown names, put your name in as contact at the end. If you know the specific dates you will be doing your Walk Down Main Street, insert them into the paragraph which talks about this campaign. Weekly hometown papers usually come out once a week on Wednesday or Thursday. Try to submit the information the Friday before so the editor has plenty of time to pull the information together. The idea is to have the article come out the day(s) JUST before your WALK DOWN MAIN STREET.
2) Get your CC2009 TEAMS OF TWO together to walk through your town! In patriotic costume? Whatever you decide to wear, always dress nicely as you represent CC2009, the Constitution and America. You can have multiple teams of 2 in one town going out or you can split up and go into area towns all at the same time. (If you do this, you can insert the names of the towns into your press release and also submit these to the hometown papers in those places.) 3) Suggested Materials for WALK DOWN MAIN STREET:
Notes on Donor Form After telling merchant about CC2009, if they want to donate right then and there, you fill out the form with them. Please note places where your signature and telephone information is requested. Give the merchant the top part (their receipt). You keep the bottom part and put it in an envelope. Send all the “orders for coins” you receive and mail to Bob, where they will be processed and coin orders placed through Rob Gray, then mailed direct to the merchant.
If the merchant wants to read the materials and donate later, leave the entire form with him or her. BE SURE to sign your name and leave your telephone number in both the top and bottom parts of the form. Both they and WTP need that contact information. The merchant can then mail in the form.
4) All checks and monies received go to your state coordinator and/or direct to Bob Schulz at WTP headquarters.
